Abortion
For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. – Psalm 139:13-16
Here at The Gathering, we believe we are all created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27), and every human being has a right to life. God gave us the gift of life and the church as a responsibility to protect it (Proverbs 24:11). Now as a church, we preach the gospel and we live it out. That being said, our church loves to participate in a 40 week prayer walk every year, through the ministry of Love Life. These walks are not in protest of abortion, they are simply just for prayer. We not only pray for the unborn babies who are being murdered, but also the mother and father who are involved. We pray they have a change of heart and God saves them. We also pray for the abortionists, and for the Holy Spirit to convict them and change their heart.
Since we have been evangelizing at the abortion clinic over the past year, we have had women not only decide to keep their babies because of our presence there but more importantly, they have been introduced to the gospel of Jesus Christ. In this gospel presentation, God can save the mother’s life and the baby gets to live.
As the church, we believe there is forgiveness for the sin of abortion and we want every mother, father, and person involved to know this truth. The church is called to show them the love of Christ and partner with them in this post-abortion restoration process.
